We are committed to producing high-precision prototypes and customized parts, and can deliver high-quality finished parts to you in as little as one day. Whether you are in the prototyping, functional testing, or low-volume production phase, our DLP 3D printing services can efficiently manufacture parts for you.

What is DLP 3D Printing?

DLP (Digital light Processing) is a common resin 3D printing technology that uses "surface exposure" to quickly cure photosensitive resin.

The core of the process involves a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) that projects a 2D image of each sliced layer onto the resin surface, curing the entire layer at once. As the build platform gradually rises, the light source continues to expose the resin based on sliced data, layer by layer, until the high-quality 3D part is fully built.

How does DLP 3D printing Work

How does DLP 3D printing Work?

Before DLP 3D starts printing, engineers will slice the 3D model and set the appropriate layer thickness parameters to meet the requirements of precision and surface quality.

During the printing process, the DMD micromirror array controls the light beam path based on sliced data, projecting the entire layer's image onto the liquid photosensitive resin for rapid curing. After each layer is cured, the build platform rises by a set height, and a scraper spreads a thin, even layer of resin in preparation for the next cure.

Through repeated cycles of "exposure-curing-lifting-smoothing," a structurally complete and highly precise 3D part is finally constructed.

Advantages of xmake DLP printing

  1. Fast printing speeds

DLP 3D printing achieves curing through full-layer exposure, making it typically faster than SLA and FDM when printing the same part. It is particularly suitable for rapid prototyping and the production of small to medium sized models.

  2. Ultra-high precision

The layer thickness of DLP 3D printing can be controlled with high precision, ranging from 25 to 50μm , which can achieve extremely high printing precision and detail resolution. It is particularly suitable for parts that require very high precision and surface quality.

  3. Excellent Surface Quality

DLP 3D printed parts often have superior surface quality to traditional processes, which can effectively reduce the time and cost of post-processing. It is particularly suitable for prototypes or display parts with high demands on appearance.

  4. Complex Structural Design

DLP 3D printing supports the production of complex geometries, capable of achieving fine features such as thin walls, sharp angles, and micro-holes, while ensuring high dimensional accuracy and consistent molding quality.

  5. Wide range of material

DLP 3D printing is compatible with a wide selection of photosensitive resins with various characteristics, such as heat-resistant, high tenacity, transparent, etc., which can flexibly meet the printing needs of different functional prototypes and customised parts.

  6. Strong post-processing

DLP 3D printed parts can undergo various post-processing techniques, such as cleaning, UV curing, sanding, and polishing etc, to further enhance their surface quality and functional performance.
