The composition of stainless steel 316L is essentially identical to that of stainless steel 316, but with a lower carbon content. Its ultra-low carbon content (≤0.03%) makes it more suitable for welding processes, where it is less prone to intergranular corrosion and exhibits more stable corrosion resistance post-welding.
