On modern assembly and delivery lines, what looks like an ordinary polymer strap imposes exceptional demands on tools. Achieving fast gripping and stable cutting calls not only for sharpness and durability, but also for precise structural design and rigorous process control.

In this project, we partnered with a world-leading design firm to merge innovative design with precision manufacturing — resulting in an industrial Scissors that effortlessly handles high-strength strapping under intense workloads.

Challenges

Our client required a heavy-duty industrial scissor with a unique combination of a carbon steel (45#) blade and a nylon-like overmolded handle. The project presented two major hurdles:

◆ Persistent Rust: The carbon steel parts, despite undergoing a black oxide coating, consistently developed surface rust, failing quality checks.

◆ Assembly Precision: The tool’s performance relied entirely on a precise spring mechanism. Achieving the correct tension and ensuring smooth spring rebound during assembly was extremely challenging and often led to inconsistent performance.

Our Solution

Instead of just delivering parts, we became an extension of the client’s QA team. We initiated a multi-phase testing and feedback loop.

✔  For the rust issue, we meticulously reviewed our sheet metal finishing process. We experimented with adjustments to the pre-treatment cleaning stages and the parameters of the black oxide coating itself, providing the client with samples and data from each iteration until we achieved a consistent, rust-resistant finish.

✔  For the spring assembly, we developed a precise jig and a rigorous testing protocol for each unit to measure and guarantee the rebound forcebefore final shipment. We shared video updates of the assembly process to ensure alignment.
